There were originally four towers connected to the Alcazar and
three of these can still be seen today, the fourth was destroyed
in the 19th century. A wander through the Jewish quarter of
Cordoba will give you an idea of the surrounding some of the
residents of Cordoba had in times gone by.
There is a lot more to Cordoba than meets the eye. Some of those
residents from times gone by went on to become some of the most
famous historical figures from the area Averroes, Mainmonides,
and Seneca, all philosophers from Arabian, Jewish, and Roman
backgrounds. There is also one of the few original remaining
synagogues in Spain. Built in 1315 near to the present day Bullfight
Museum, decorated by local artisans with many traditional symbols
and styles from Judaism, this impressive building is a must
