Day Trips

Tour A: The Caves of Aracena
Visit the magical caves of Aracena. Enjoy the sparkling lakes inside the caves and the spectacular rock formations of one of Andalucía’s best kept secrets that has to be seen to be believed. After the visit to the caves you will go into the village of Aracena itself. Set on a hilltop with a castle, this ‘white village’ is famous for its quality of Jamon. Sample some of this local delicacy and visit the Museo Del Jamon for a historical insight into this culinary tradition in Andalucía.

Tour B: Jerez de la Frontera
A short trip from Sevilla brings you to the famous town of Jerez de la Frontera. Widely known for its Flamenco, Horses, and wine Jerez will fascinate you. Take a guided tour through its historic centre and visit the most famous bodega in Spain for some traditional wine tasting. After all of this you will have some free time to wander around and see some of the sights for yourselves.

Tour C: Doñana National Park
Take a short trip to the mouth of Seville’s Guadalquivir River in one of the most important National Parks in Europe. Full of exotic animals such as the extremely rare Iberian Lynx, and equally endangered Spanish Imperial Eagle, Doñana is a place of rare and natural beauty. After this you will be taken to the nearby beachside town of Sanlucar to enjoy the shops, sights and beaches.

Tour D: Lagos, Portugal
This sleepy little Portuguese town transforms at night into a hive of activity. If you want to party at night, visit the beach during the day you can go on one of the surfing trips, or spend your time relaxing under the sun, then this trip is for you. A traditional fishing town, Lagos is full of charm and history. Join the trip to Sagres, the most south westerly point in Europe, for the incredible sunsets and beaches.

Tour E: Gibraltar
Also known in former times as Mons Calpe one of the Pillars of Hercules during the heights of exploration, Gibraltar has a lot more to offer as one of the most enjoyable destinations in Europe. Most of the rocks’ upper regions are a designated nature reserve, which is home to around 230 macaque monkeys, the only ‘wild’ monkeys found in Europe. One of the most adaptable of the primates the monkeys were originally brought by the Romans, and have more recently been replenished by the British Army once the numbers got low. You can take the scenic cable car on a relaxed ride to the top of Gibraltar, and once you reach the top of the rock you can see as far as Africa. You will marvel at the relaxed atmosphere, the special mixture of British and Spanish influences and incredible views in and around Gibraltar.

Tour F: Ronda
One of the most spectacular white villages in Andalucía is situated in Ronda 750 metres above sea level, one hour east of Seville. Located on top of the Tajo gorge and separated by a fast flowing river 300 metres below, Ronda is a feat of modern architecture & engineering with its three bridges, the highest sitting at 120 metres above the floor of the canyon. Initially inhabited by the early Celts, and later taking more influence from the Romans an Moors, architecturally Ronda has enjoyed a long and interesting history. It is also home to the oldest bullfighting ring that is still in use to this day. Take in the spectacular views from the balcony of Andalucía.

Aracena tour

This is a full day tour departing from Seville at 9am, and commencing on arrival after the short journey to Aracena. Located on the edge of the Sierra de Huelva, you will visit the town hall, renaissance square, and castle with its stunning views. After a break at around noon, you will visit the Jamon Iberico museum to learn more about some of the finest local delicacies. Then the tour continues with a visit to a nearby system of caves that was only recently discovered at Gruta de las Maravillas, with one group of caves situated at a point higher than the famous Giralda cathedral tower in Seville. And to round of the day after lunch, a walk around the village centre with its beauty spots and places of interest.

Rio-Tinto tour
After seeing the sights in Aracena you will journey through the breathtaking countryside towards the spectacular Rio Tinto mines, some of the largest man-made ‘structures’ in the world. With the Romans being the first to mine here many centuries ago, the mine came into its own during Queen Victoria of England’s reign and the U.K. was the leading force during the industrialization of Europe. There you will also find a museum with a working representation of the mine, and a specially designed carriage for transporting Queen Victoria. Also on display is a house dating back to colonial times in the neighbourhood of Victoriana. Coupled with eerie Martian like landscapes of the mines , this all combines to give you a truly enjoyable experience. Arrival in Seville at approximately 18:30.



Tour H:

Wine tour
This afternoon tour departs from Seville at 14:30 towards Aljarafe just on the outskirts of Sevilla. Here you will visit a bodega that was producing wine long before the industry made its mark in nearby on Jerez. You’ll meet the owner of this family run establishment in a relaxing atmosphere with many interesting insights into its unique history. There is also the chance to sample some of the wines and sherries that are manufactured here, plus a special excursion to a nearby convert depending on the open hours on any given day.

Bullfighting tour
The second stage of the tour is a visit to a traditional bullring, once the home of Espartaco, most likely the most famous Spanish bullfighter all time. You will experience first-hand this insightful and time honoured tradition with novice bullfighters training, of whom anumber have been part of bullfights at Sevilla’s grand bullring at the tender age of 18. Take a step closer to the real thing as you look behind the scenes of one of the longest standing traditions in the country. An experience that will far outweigh your expectations, and a memorable insight into Spanish culture to reflect on during the return to the city at around 18:30.
